Jon Whittington is co-founder and co-owner of Hawaii Mortgage Group LLC.  A career mortgage banker, Jon began his career in mortgage lending in 1993 as a Mortgage Loan Officer and has held leadership roles since 1997.  Most recently, Jon was president of Compass Home Loans, a Hawaii-based mortgage banking company which he and his team launched in 2014.  Prior to that he served in executive leadership roles at American Savings Bank and Countrywide Home Loans’ Prime Retail Lending Division.

Jon is the sole Hawaii mortgage banking professional to be recognized as a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB), the mortgage industry’s highest professional designation.

Deeply involved in our community, Jon has served as a member, board member, officer and president of many Hawaii charitable and community organizations such as YPO – Young Presidents Organization, Hawaii Executive Conference (conferee), GIFT Foundation of Hawaii, Easter Seals of Hawaii, Hawaii Theatre Center, Hawaii State Jr. Golf Association, Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, Hawaii Nature Center, and Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawaii, among others.

Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, Jon came to University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1989 as part of an exchange program with the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV).  He never left.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from UNLV.

Jon has been married to his wife Neige since 1999 and they are proud parents of Sydney and Nate.  In his free time, he enjoys traveling with family and friends, golf, tennis, pickleball, reading and family beach days.  He lives in the Diamond Head area of Honolulu.
